After playing the latest Path of Exile 2 0.5 version Return of the Ancients with the Runes of Aldur League, which I thoroughly enjoyed with a few friends of mine, it’s time to take a look at this newest Path of Exile 3.29 expansion called Curse of the Allflame League. I take this opportunity to try out some very basic MD formatting, so you’ll see many links and other things in this blogpost.

Abstract

It is worth noting that I am by no means a very good Path of Exile player. It is a game I’ve played on and off in recent years. I couldn’t say exactly how many total hours I have across the dedicated launcher and the steam one, but it is for sure a few thousands by now. I am however a very dedicated player who will go out of his way to look up mechanics, builds, interactions and items outside of the scope of their current build and/or characters just for the sake of learning. Path of Exile 1 is a lot more complex than Path of Exile 2, so the extent of my knowledge of Path of Exile 2 is much larger because Path of Exile 2 is a much smaller and simpler game, in relative terms.

Plan 1: Mercenary Build using the new Luminary Ascendancy

This new ascendancy allows us to bring back the permanent Mercs we used to have in Mercenaries League. A very interesting video on the matter that echoes my own vision for a potential Mercbot by CaptainLance9: Link. I shall be following his ideas for an endgame version of this build, while trying to play a self-cast Kinetic Fusillade Ascendant as a starting character till I get to maps.

Plan 2: Penance Brand Ignite Elementalist

I’ve rerolled to an old Penance Brand of Dissipation Herald-stacking Elementalist in the last league, as well as 2 leagues ago, always loving brands in general. Nowadays, PBOD isn’t as easy to build as before, and another solution I’ve never tried out was using normal Penance Brand and I could try to follow this video by brand enthusiast Zeeboub if my Merc plans don’t come to fruition.
